Group photo in the baroque library of Zwettl Abbey. In recent years, the ‘CISTERSCAPES connecting Europe’ project has established good relations with the Czech Republic. Since December 2023, Vyšší Brod, Žd'ár nad Sázavou and Zwettl have been working together on the ‘ATCZ00007 CISTERSCAPES VB-Zw-ZnS’ project, which is co-funded by the programme Interreg Austria-Czechia. These good co-operations have even developed into friendships. One of these friendly partnerships is with the non-profit organisation Chelčický domov sv. Linharta, o. p. s. in Vodňany, South Bohemia.
This year, this organisation once again took part with a sales stand in the Golden Advent Zwettl, which took place in the town from 5 to 8 December 2024. Mrs Klára Kavanová Mušková and her colleagues offered handmade nativity scenes, sewn Christmas decorations, Advent wreaths and flower arrangements made from natural materials as well as homemade jams and chutneys.
The many years of good cooperation between the Cistercian monasteries of Vyšší Brod, Zwettl and the surrounding communities also aroused interest among the local population. A travelling group of around 40 people set off from Vyšší Brod to discover the Zwettl monastery landscape. They first visited Zwettl Monastery, where the travellers were given a special guided tour through the medieval part of the monastery complex, church and library on the subject of Cistercian monastic landscapes. They then visited the Zwettl Advent market. A short detour to the Zwettl brewery was also organised. The group returned home with many positive impressions and even more wonderful photos in glorious weather. A return visit by the Zwettl team to Vyšší Brod is planned for next year.
The travelling group from Vyšší Brod visits the Czech sales stand at the Golden Advent in Zwettl and is welcomed by city councillor Anne Blauensteiner.
