DThe group from Panenská Rozsíčka was impressed by the library in Zwettl Abbey. On December 6, 2025, a large group from Panenská Rozsíčka - a small municipality in the Jihlava district, which is implementing an Interreg project together with the market town of Schweiggers - visited Zwettl Abbey. The visit was all about cross-border cooperation, because after all, the monastery and the municipality of Zwettl are also working with their Czech partners on an Interreg project entitled "Cisterscapes VB-Zw-ZnS.
On their arrival at the court of Abbey of Zwettl Abbey, which is currently being revitalized as part of the Cisterscapes project, the guests were warmly welcomed by Abbot Johannes Maria Szypulski in their national language. This was followed by a joint tour of the library and the monastic grounds, during which a Czech audio guide for the library was used for the first time and the new educational programs were presented in an overview. Such offers are being developed and tested in the Zwettl monastic landscape, as well as in Vyšší Brod and Žd ́ár nad Sázavou. Subsequently, they will be made available to all Cisterscapes partners in order to make Cistercian monastic landscapes that bear the European Heritage Label tangible with all the senses.
A major topic in the tour and in the discussions were current Interreg initiatives aimed at education, regional development and exchange between municipalities, cultural and tourism institutions. Possibilities for cooperation and mutual support were discussed.
During the visit to Zwettl Abbey, it became clear once again that cross-border projects do not only mean funding and strategy papers - but above all lively cooperation between people.
